The camp experience may be especially valuable for children who have special needs, as they can be isolated from some of the social experiences that other children take for granted.
The camps in this directory are organized alphabetically by county for camps in North Carolina, and alphabetically by state for camps outside the state. Each entry includes contact information for the camp, type of disability it serves, a description of camp activities, cost, and dates for 2019. We have also included a list of camps organized by specialty/condition.
This directory is a product of the Family Support Program at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Social Work. It is a resource for family members and service providers who are looking for summer camp experiences for children. The Family Support Program does not endorse any camp programs, including those listed in the directory.

Mission: Share the love of Christ through outdoor camping and experiential recreation adapted for the special needs population, regardless of age or ability.
The Program: Each day we will try to have outside activities, a craft and hands-on activity, and of course music! Lunch WILL be provided each day and we will plan on getting the campers involved in preparing some of the meals!
Each of the five days will have special themes that the activities will revolve around. As the opening day gets closer we will be announcing the different themes to create excitement for the campers over the summer months leading into camp. Campers will be encouraged to dress accordingly and even where costumes that go along with the theme for that day.
At the conclusion of the activities on Day 5 we will have a short ceremony to give out awards, the t-shirts they decorated, and a special iCAMP patch for them to collect that will be unique each year. iCAMP is an exciting adventure for kids and families in the high country who are looking for adaptive recreation and education in the outdoors. We hope that you will join us.
